The Enemy Within

The soldiers of Stargate Command in the Cheyenne Mountain Depot, watches as yet another attempt is made by the enemy to break thru the titanium shield. After another failure, the wormhole created by the Stargate, is disengaged. As O'Neill, Carter, and Daniel watched this, Kawalsky is suffering another headache. O'Neill noticing this, tells Kawalsky to go to the infirmary to get it checked out.

In the infirmary, the doctor checks out Kawalsky's vitals and finds nothing wrong. Then he checks Kawalsky's back and sees something writhing around Kawalsky's spine. Stunned, the doctor is speechless as he sees Kawalsky's eyes glow.

O'Neill is informed by General Hammond that someone from the Pentagon is coming for Teal'c. The colonel's request for Teal'c to join the team is denied. The general assures the colonel that Teal'c would be given every respect.

Teal'c is visited by O'Neill in the holding cell. The alien warrior wants to know if he was a prisoner here. O'Neill does not know how to explain to Teal'c that despite his promises of loyalty to them in fighting Apophis, why they were still keeping him locked up here.

In the meeting room, above the embarkament room, Daniel and Carter are having a debriefing with some other soldiers. As Daniel explains the mechanics behind the Stargate, he sees Kawalsky down below. The soldier, for some strange reason, was walking up the ramp to the Stargate. Carter alerts General Hammond and O'Neill. Kawalsky doesn't remember coming into the embarkament room. Last he recalled, he was in the infirmary waiting to be checked out. Worried, O'Neill takes his friend back to the infirmary. Daniel and Carter are walking down the halls now and Daniel reveals how all he could think about is his wife Sha'uri, wondering where she is and if she was okay. Under Carter's insistance, Daniel goes back to a room to try to get some rest. He enters his room and sits down on the lower bunk. Suddenly, a bloody arm flops out from the top bunk, in front of Daniel. The Egyptologist turns on the lights-the dead person is the doctor from the infirmary.

Major Melbourne from Washington comes to interrogate Teal'c. Jack comes in, uninvited, to listen into the interrogation. Major Melbourne asks Teal'c of what he knows of the Go'ualds. He is told that there are many planets that are colonized by humans. It is then Teal'c tells them of a legend of the first world where the Goau'lds first invaded but was overthrown. The alien warrior learns that Earth was the legendary planet. Teal'c solemnly tells them that this place- Earth, is their best hope and his.

The new doctor who examines Kawalsky, finds something in his CAT scan and alerts O'Neill and the general. Kawalsky escapes and tries to activate the Stargate. Carter tries to stop him. The possessed Kawalsky takes her hostage and try to escape thru the elevator. When soldiers open the elevator, they find Kawalsky again with no memory of hitting Carter or holding her hostage. With no choice, they confine Kawalsky to his bed to prevent another escape. They ask Teal'c about his Gouald larvae. The alien warrior replies that there would be a battle for the control of Kawalsky. O'Neill visits Kawalsky with the general in hopes to bargain with the parasite. No deal. The parasite refuses to leave Kawalsky. The next possible solution-a risky surgery to physically remove the parasite.

Apparently successful, Kawalsky recovers and asks if he could see Teal'c, who will be shipped out with the major to Washington. Teal'c arrives by Kawalsky's bedside. Kawalsky asks the guards to leave them so he could thank Teal'c for all his help. When they are alone, Kawalsky's eyes began to glow and he suddenly grabs Teal'c by the throat. It is revealed that the surgery had, in fact, failed. The parasite had already gain control of Kawalsky. The parasite offers Teal'c a chance to join him but was refused. Judging Teal'c as a traitor, Kawalsky knocks out Teal'c and escapes. He returns to the Stargate, activating it for Chulak and setting the gate for self destructon. As he goes up the ramp to the activated Stargate, he finds Teal'c blocking the entrance to the wormhole.

The two men are fighting around the Stargate when O'Neill finally finds them. Over the mike, O'Neill tells Teal'c to hold Kawalsky over at the Stargate. Immediately, O'Neill shuts the Stargate down-in doing so, severing the top of Kawalsky's head and killing both the parasite and his friend and comrade Kawalsky.

Teal'c: "..he was your friend."
O'Neill: "...he's not my friend...my friend died at the table.."
Colonel Jack O'Neill, after giving the orders to shutdown the Stargate, killing Kawalsky as a result

General Hammond is talking with the President with the major before him in his office. The conversation on the general's side, seems very amiable. The President agrees to allow Teal'c to stay and not go to Washington with Melbourne. General Hammond then smugly gives the phone to Melbourne so that the president may have a few words with him.

O'Neill, Carter, and Daniel are gathered at the Stargate, getting ready to explore a new planet. As General Hammond briefs them on their mission, the doors open and Teal'c enters. Dressed in the SGC uniform, he joins the team and becomes the fourth member of SG-1.
