STARGATE FANS HELP TO RAISE OVER $22,000 FOR CHARITY.Remember that recent auction for STARGATE SG-1 Props, Costumes and Studio Art that Legends Memorabilia (whose alter-ego is Stargateprops.com) arranged on ebay?
Well, feel no more guilt on spending money on that Replicator prop, or Samantha Carter's costume from "Emancipation", the Stargate blueprint, or that bit of concept art from the episode "Fire and Water". They were all donated for the event by MGM and through this auction Legends Memorabilia managed to raise over $22,000 dollars.
Every single penny of those winning bids was donated to the local Food Banks of Greater Vancouver.
In fact, the original fund raising goal of $10,000 was so far exceeded by the fans generosity during these sets of charity auctions that Paul Brown (president of Legends Memorabilia) was also able to donate to not just one but several food banks and puchase new toys that the food banks can give out to needy children on their birthdays.
This charity event was arranged as a part of CANstruction® An event which brings together teams to design and build extraordinary structures made entirely of canned food. Following a one week public display (going on this week at Canada Place in Vancouver), the structures are disassembled and the cans are then donated to the local food banks.

AUGUST, 2003It seems inevitable someone would adapt any successful series into a comic book. Heck, we've seen it happen with a great many series. Some work, some don't. Luckily for us, however, the company that picked up Stargate SG-1 shows great promise.Avatar Press, known for their high quality artwork and stories for such titles like "Shi" and "Robocop", has taken up the momumental task of adapting the feature-quality series Stargate SG-1 and adapting it to the 2-D pages. With talent like Matt Busch and Renato Guedes translating the vision of Stargate into slick, full color pages, we're in for a treat.
Below are thumbnails of three pages so graciously granted to us by editor William Christensen. You can click on them for the larger image. These are for preview only. We ask that out of respect for Avatar Press, that you do not link or copy these images without the editor's expressed permission. They've been kind enough to pass along the info and we here at Stargatefan are more than thrilled to help promote what potentially looks like a great mini-series.
Keep an eye out for this series towards the end of 2003. Also keep an eye out for a very special convention issue to debut at the DragonCon 2003 coming up really soon. Check out their website link below these pages for more information. And when we ourselves get more info, we will definitely let you know! Let's hope it paves the way for much more in the fandom and collectively wish Avatar Press the best of luck and success!
