Daniel wondered down the hall toward the briefing room wandering what punishment Jack had planned for him; since this was the third time this week he was late.
He came to the room’s entrance and froze upon hearing Jack’s voice. "For cryin’ out loud are you sure you don’t want me to go get him Sir?" The anger in Jack’s voice was unmistakable.
Daniel cleared his throat as he entered causing every one to turn around. "Sorry I was working on some translations SG5 brought back"
"Good morning Dr. Jackson, nice of you to join us." General Hammond greeted.
"Hey Daniel!" his team exclaimed in unison. Jack added a muttered "Finally" but Daniel ignored it.
"SG1 let’s begin."
At Hammond’s order Sam stood up and described what the planet TAM-429 was like and the reasons for going there. Once her presentation was done Daniel gave his on the ruins located on that particular planet and what help the information could provide in their war against the Goa’uld.
After an hour of listening to the two scientists Gen. Hammond came to a decision.
"SG1 you have a go in one hour. Dismissed!"
The SGC’s flagship team got up and left as a group. Once in the hall away from their CO Jack turned to Daniel and asked with a smile, "So aren’t you going to ask what your punishment is?"
"Nope I already know." Daniel replied
"You do?" Jack’s smile slipped
"Sure, you’re going to make me clean up camp for a week." Daniel looked hopeful.
"Nope," Jack’s smile returned "You get to enjoy every Friday night for a month at my house. You bring the pizza and beer."
Daniel muttered something that sounded like ‘Oh great’ under his breath. Looking over at Sam, Jack asked "Hey Carter before we decide to let Danny Boy run around and play with his rocks on his own are there any natives for Daniel to get in trouble with?"
Sam looked over at Jack "Sir that was in my report, I covered that in the briefing."
"I know I just……forgot."
"You weren’t paying attention were you?"
"Of course I was!"
"Well to answer your question we haven’t found any."
"But that doesn’t mean it isn’t there." Daniel added
"I concur." Teal’c spoke agreeing with Daniel.
They stopped in front of the elevators. "Well I’ll see you guys in," Jack looked at his watch. "55 minutes." He walked off toward the commissionaire.
Sam, Daniel, and Teal’c stared after him, then entered the elevator to go to their separate floors; Sam and Daniel to their Labs and Teal’c to his quarters.
Twenty minutes later SG1 met in the infirmary for their pre-mission exams. The exams, which could have only taken ten minutes, took twenty, mostly because Jack wouldn’t co-operate. Once done with their exams SG1 headed for the locker room. At the door Jack, Daniel, and Teal’c told Carter they would meet her in the gate room since she couldn’t be in the locker room at the same time as the boys.
Fifteen minutes later all four members of SG1 were in the gate room ready to go. The ‘Gate activated with a SWOOSH! Hammond’s voice boomed over the loud speaker "SG1 you have a go!"
O’Neill saluted the General then led his team through the Stargate and onto TAM-429
Being in the middle of a meadow, the area surrounding the ‘Gate was very green. To the left was a large green forest. They could hear birds chirping and whistling to each other. To the right was a mountain range; the mountains looked purple from where they stood. Jack looked around before turning to Carter. "So how far to your naquada?"
"About three miles East."
"Ok so you go east and Daniel you go…."
"Four miles West."
"Alright Teal’c your with Carter, Daniel’s with me. Radio check in thirty minutes."
"Yes Sir."
They split up and headed toward their destinations.
A few hours later Sam Carter was finishing up her tests when she heard shouts and gunfire, she stood up with her gun ready and began looking around, but she realized the noise was coming from her radio; she grabbed it.
"Colonel!?"
She could hear her CO yelling and cursing and yelling but got no answer.
"Colonel O’Neill!" Worry twisted Teal’c’s usually impassive face. After a few tense minutes he answered. "Yeah I’m here"
"Sir what happened?"
"About six or seven natives kidnapped Daniel. Details later just get here ASAP! O’Neill out."

Daniel opened his eyes slowly, his head pounded in time with his heart. He tried to sit up, but was overcome with nausea. ‘Whoa bad idea’ he thought as he lay back down. He was in some kind of hut. He listened carefully for any voices outside but heard only the birds. The cloth flap was pulled back from the entrance and the sunlight shining in Daniels eyes made his head hurt worse. A native dressed in something that resembled pants entered, taking two steps toward Daniel. They just stared at one-another, so Daniel spoke. "Hi my name……." he began sitting up.
The alien covered his ears and backed out leaving Daniel alone once more.
Daniel let himself fall back down careful not to hit his head ‘This is going to take a while’ he thought.

Sam and Teal’c came to the ruins and slowed their run to a jog. Upon hearing footsteps Jack turned, raising his gun as he went. Immediately he lowered it and walked to where his two other teammates stood. "Which way?" Carter asked breathless.
"We were attacked over here." Jack said leading them over to a large stone. "I think they went that way." He pointed right. Teal’c stooped down and examined the ground "They did not O’Neill, they went that way." Teal’c pointed left and started walking. After a quick glance at each other they followed.

Daniel was hoping sleep would make his head feel better. He was dozing when he flap was moved he gingerly sat up and watched two of his captors walk in. The one that came to see him earlier walked over and tied him up, and held him firmly upright. The other walked over and placed his hand on Daniel’s forehead. The archeologist was overcome with a blinding pain; the last thing he remembered was calling out "Jack!" And then he lost consciousness.

Jack O’Neill was not a happy camper. They had been tracking Daniel and his captors for hours. It was time to make camp, and in Jack’s opinion they were no closer to finding Daniel. Jack took second watch. He settled into his sleeping bag and fell asleep thinking of ways to punish Daniel’s captors.

Daniel regained consciousness slowly. The first thing he noticed other than the worse pounding in his head was the fact it was dark outside. ‘How long have I been here?’ he wondered. He tried to sleep off the pain like earlier but he couldn’t, the pain was too intense. He lay there thinking of what Jack was doing; with a surge of hope Daniel realized all three of his friends would be looking for him. ‘They won’t leave ‘till they find me.’ was his last thought as he drifted off to a restless sleep.

Sam had last watch, which gave her plenty of thinking time. She tried not to think of what could be happening to Daniel right now, and tried to be optimistic. ‘We will find you, I promise.’ she thought as she went to go wake up her two other teammates.
They broke camp and started toward Daniel, Teal’c taking point and Jack watching their sixes.

Daniel woke up to the sounds of feet outside, but still he heard no voices. He waited expectantly for the people to come back and hurt him again. Surprisingly no one came in. He let himself relax but not too much. He laid there hoping Jack would be there sometime soon.

Teal’c held up his hand signaling they should stop. "Teal’c wha….?" Jack started but Teal’c held a finger to his lips telling both Sam and Jack to be quiet. At Teal’c’s order they all hid behind some trees. After a few minutes Teal’c explained there was someone very near by. They got up and were about to continue on their journey when they were taken by surprise. A medium sized man jumped out from behind a tree screaming and yelling. SG1 raised their guns and stared at the newcomer.
When he got no reaction he said. "You are not one of the mind people?"
"Um….no I don’t think so." Jack replied raising an eyebrow.
"Where are you from?" The stranger asked
"We came through the Stargate." Sam replied
"Yeah and some people kidnapped our archeologist." Jack’s worry made him snippy.
"It was the mind people; that is what we call them. Let us sit and I will explain."
Since the man had not threatened them, Jack agreed.

Daniel wasn’t even aware he had fallen asleep but the sound of someone entering woke him up. Again he was tied up by the same guy. Once he was sitting up and tied up, another guy came in and crouched in front of him. The new guy put his palm to Daniels forehead. The pain caused him to pass out again.

"So let me get this strait, Daniel was taken by telepathic people, but can’t communicate because we aren’t advanced enough? Do you know how crazy that sounds?" Jack asked, his voice raising a little.
"I do, but it’s the truth. Since you know how to work the Stargate they will be forcing the information from your friend’s mind. He does not have much time we must go now."
"Alright let’s go get Daniel back." Jack said standing up.
They walked for only ten minutes before reaching a village. There were about twenty huts in the shape of a circle around a large fire pit. They crouched behind some trees.
"Mind people do not like noise." advised the stranger whose name was Murzack and was of the ‘sound people’.
"Okay here’s the plan, we go in firing but not at the people, get Danny then get out. Got it?" O’Neill asked his team.
"Yes Sir." Carter looked determined.
"Indeed O’Neill" Said Teal’c
They moved into their positions, and at Jack’s signal ran in firing. Like Murzack said, the Mind people went running like ants from fire upon the first shot. It didn’t take long before the village was completely clear so they split up and began searching the huts for their missing friend.
Sam entered a hut and found a very familiar someone lying on the ground…. "Daniel!" she ran to him falling to her knees next to his head. She pushed his sweaty bangs from his forehead.
"Daniel, can you hear me?"

Daniel heard a loud sound and it was doing nothing to help his massive headache. He could hear sounds of feet moving just outside.
"Daniel, can you hear me?" A woman’s voice asked. He recognized the voice after a minute.
"Sam?"
"Yup," She sounded relieved "how do you feel?"
"Other than a huge headache fine." he answered without opening his eyes.
"Daniel look at me."
Finally he opened his eyes and looked at his adopted sister.
"Happy?" he asked with a smile.
"Very." She answered, smiling back. "Let’s go home."
Daniel was lifted and he noticed it was Teal’c who carried him. He could see Sam talking to someone before Jack’s head obscured his vision. Daniel blearily waved before falling asleep again.

Daniel had spent the last two days in the infirmary and was more than ready to get out. He looked at his watch; if he hurried he could make it to the briefing. Dr. Janet Fraiser walked in and looked at her impatient- patient. She glanced at the latest report on him then sighed. "I have no reason to keep you here, so you can go just take it easy for a while; which means don’t work too much. Your brain has had enough for one week." She smiled at him as he got up to leave.

Jack looked up and smiled as Daniel walked into the briefing room and took his usual seat next to Jack. General Hammond looked at Daniel and greeted him. "Good afternoon Doctor nice to see you up and about. We were just discussing whether or not a return trip to TAM-429 is nessisary.Please remind us if what little you could make out from the video."
"All I got was that a Goa’uld named Thoth, God of the moon. He was also the God of scribes. He can be associated with—"
"Okay Daniel we get the picture; is it important enough to go back?" The AF Colonel asked cutting his friend off before he got a lecture on things he really didn’t care about.
"Not immediately but it should be considered." answered Daniel looking at Gen. Hammond.
"Very well, briefing scheduled two weeks from now at 1400 hours. Dismissed." Hammond walked into his office and Jack waited for the door to close before looking to Daniel and saying, "Daniel try not to be late for this one. Oh by the way tomorrow’s Friday; be at my place with the pizza and beer around six o’clock." reminded Jack using regular time so not to confuse his favorite archeologist. "Don’t be late."
